Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Making Two Additional Judges of Madras High Court Permanent

The Supreme Court Collegium, in a meeting held on 15 September 2025, approved the proposal to appoint two Additional Judges of the Madras High Court—Justice N. Senthilkumar and Justice G. Arul Murugan—as Permanent Judges. These two judges had been serving as Additional Judges in the Madras High Court since October 2023.

The collegium’s recommendation signifies moving their appointments from the status of “Additional Judges” to “Permanent Judges,” thereby confirming their tenure and position in the High Court. The recommendation follows the standard procedure whereby the Supreme Court Collegium reviews individual judges' performance and suitability to decide on their permanence.

Thus, as of the recommendation date, Justice Senthilkumar and Justice Arul Murugan are to become permanent Judges of the Madras High Court.
