On October 15, 2025, the Delhi High Court issued summons to the digital news platform Newslaundry in response to a defamation suit filed by Eduquity Career Technologies. The company, specializing in examination solutions for corporate, government, and educational sectors, alleges that a 2024 article published by Newslaundry titled “Years before NEET row, NTA contracted 2 exam firms with murky record” defamed its reputation.
In the article, Newslaundry claimed that Eduquity's name had surfaced in several paper leak and cheating cases. It further stated that in 2022, Eduquity was contracted to conduct the Madhya Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test but subcontracted the job to Rajasthan-based Sai Educare Private Ltd., after which the exam paper was leaked and went viral on social media. The article also mentioned that a year later, Eduquity was given another contract to conduct patwari exams in the state, which also faced cheating issues.
During the hearing, Eduquity's counsel informed the court that various defamatory videos had been published on social media, amplifying the contents of the impugned article. In response, Newslaundry's counsel stated that the article was published over a year ago and asserted the defense of truth.
Justice Jyoti Singh, presiding over the matter, directed Newslaundry to file its written statement and issued notice on Eduquity's application seeking interim injunction relief. The court's directions mark a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings between the two parties.
