Justice C. S. Sudha Bids Farewell to Kerala High Court, Set to Join Delhi High Court

Justice C. S. Sudha bid farewell to the Kerala High Court ahead of her transfer to the Delhi High Court, marking the conclusion of a distinguished tenure that spanned nearly four years. At the farewell reference held in her honour, Justice Sudha expressed gratitude and mixed emotions, stating that she leaves with both contentment and sadness. She paid heartfelt tribute to her late parents and husband, saying she believed they were watching over her with pride. She also thanked her court staff for their dedication and affection, describing them as her “surrogate family” during her service at the High Court.

Chief Justice A. J. Nitin Jamdar lauded Justice Sudha for her judicial temperament, compassion, and diligence. He remarked that while the Kerala High Court would deeply feel her absence, the Delhi High Court would greatly benefit from her experience and integrity. The Advocate General of Kerala praised her contributions, noting that she had made a significant impact on both the Bench and the Bar through her commitment to justice, clarity of reasoning, and humane approach to adjudication.

During the event, speakers recalled her journey from her early days as a lawyer in Thiruvananthapuram to her elevation to the Bench. They highlighted her landmark judgments in areas such as maternity benefits, mental health, transgender rights, media trials, and matrimonial law, all of which reflected her empathy and balanced interpretation of the law.

Members of the legal fraternity also emphasized that Justice Sudha’s career is a testament to merit and dedication rather than preferential advancement. They expressed confidence that she would continue to make a meaningful contribution to the judiciary from her new post in Delhi. The farewell thus celebrated her legacy in Kerala and looked forward to her continued service to the cause of justice at the Delhi High Court.
