The Karnataka High Court has directed Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to consider a representation for installing a mobile tower in Bhavani Bijalgaon village of Kamalanagar Taluk in Bidar District, which presently lacks mobile network connectivity. The Division Bench of Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice C. M. Poonacha was hearing a petition filed by Gurunath Vadde, a resident of the village, who highlighted that the absence of any mobile network had caused severe communication difficulties for the villagers.
The petitioner stated that neither BSNL nor any private telecom service provider had established connectivity in the area, thereby depriving the residents of access to vital digital and communication services. The Court noted that the petitioner had already submitted a representation to BSNL on May 18, 2024, requesting the installation of a tower to address the issue.
Disposing of the petition, the Court directed BSNL to duly consider the representation and take appropriate action in accordance with law. The order reflects the Court’s concern over the lack of basic telecommunication infrastructure in remote regions and emphasizes the responsibility of public service providers to ensure connectivity in underserved areas.
