Lakshmi R. Menon: Kerala High Court Grants Interim Protection in Alleged Abduction of IT Professional

The High Court of Kerala has granted interim protection from arrest to actress Lakshmi R. Menon in connection with a complaint alleging her involvement in the abduction and assault of an IT professional in Kochi. The incident reportedly took place on the night of August 24, when the complainant alleged that after a dispute at a bar, his vehicle was intercepted near the North Railway Overbridge in Ernakulam and he was forcibly pulled into another vehicle and assaulted.

According to police and media reports, three other persons — Mithun, Aneesh and Sonamol — have already been arrested and remanded in custody in the matter. The actress has denied the allegations, describing them as false and fabricated to damage her reputation. She asserted that it was she and her friend who were harassed at the bar, followed and attacked, rather than the complainant.

Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas heard the anticipatory bail application filed by Ms Menon and directed that her arrest be stayed until a specified date, while further investigation and hearing of the petition proceed. The Court also sought further instructions from the police about the status of the investigation.

The matter remains under investigation, with the Court’s interim order providing the actress protection while the legal process unfolds.
